Child
Sponsorship – what does it mean?
Bottom line … it means, together
we are making a difference!
It is a mechanism by which your donation of Rs.5000 per year to RDF is used to meet the costs of educating one child for one
full year. The costs include teacher salaries, books, uniforms, mid-day meals
and administrative costs. This is not a scholarship for the child. No part of
this money goes to the child.
Child sponsors can opt to receive quarterly report
cards and follow the child’s progress year by year. Letter/email communications
can also be arranged with the children for such of those sponsors who so
desire.
Sponsors may choose to donate annually or make a one
time pro-rated donation. One time donations will be used to set up an annuity.
Only the annual income derived from the annuity will be used. The annuity can
be set up in the joint names of RDF and the donor (to be operated on a jointly
or survivor basis), thus ensuring the donor that their one time donation will
never be put to other use.
There is no limit to the number of children one can sponsor. There are many who have chosen to sponsor a single child and there are a few who sponsor a whole class of 25 children year after year. Sponsors of a whole class may name the class in memory of any loved one of their choice.
