Newsletter

2007                                             Issue 2                                  December

From the secretary’s desk.

This is the second Newsletter in 2007. The previous issue can be accessed through the Archives link.

In the previous Newsletter, I posed the question "Are we making a difference? ", and then went on to answer in the affirmative giving the example of two of our alumni who had secured well paying jobs at GE. The question this time is "Are we making a SUSTAINABLE difference"?

Once again, the answer is in the affirmative. The difference that we - together with all of you donors - have helped make in the lives of these two youngsters was sufficient to encourage them take on the responsibility to continue the cylce of "making a difference" in the lives of their fellow villagers. Both of these youngsters, Mahender and Sravan (from the class of 2004), recently presented their first sponsorship cheques of Rs. 5000 each, to the headmaster of the RDF School, Kalleda at an impressive assembly meeting conducted in their honour.

The new found affluence that of these two is not the only case of "sustainable difference" that we are seeing. We have another example of Sudhaker, class of 2006 from the RDF School, Matendla and currently working as a heavy earth moving equipment operator. He is donating 10% of his salary to his alma mater. This will be sufficient to meet the expenses of one child.
