Feature Story of the month

According to our mission we should be “making a lifelong difference in the lives of rural underprivileged children” and give them the hope and the opportunity to break their vicious bonds with poverty and ignorance by being there as a HELPING HAND, to become dignified and productive citizens, standing on their own feet, and helping others”.

So, are we making a difference in anybody’s lives?

Only a few days ago, we have had the first evidence that we are indeed making that difference. Two students from our school system, Mahender and Sravan, hailing from poor and backward communities (one from the lambada tribe and another from the tailor community) secured very lucrative jobs with GE Money at take home salaries of about Rs. 9,200 per month. These children have “broken their bonds with ignorance” and now are well on their way to “breaking their bonds with poverty”. Not only that, they are willing to fulfill the rest of our mission, and that is to “help others” by providing support to RDF. Our very own Director and Coordinator Alumni Affairs, Mrs. Vandita Rao was the HELPING HAND, coaching and training them all the way through their tests and interviews till the job was secured. It is indeed time to congratulate these children, the staff of the school and also pat ourselves on the back.
